Examine the health-illness continuum and discuss why this perspective is important to consider in relation to health and the human experience when caring for patients.
Reflect on your overall state of health. Discuss what behaviors support or detract from your health and well-being. Explain where you currently fall on the health-illness continuum.
Discuss the options and resources available to you to help you move toward wellness on the health-illness spectrum. Describe how these would assist in moving you toward wellness (managing a chronic disease, recovering from an illness, self-actualization, etc.).

ROBIN, I agree with you that most geriatric patients tend to pass away in healthcare facilities against their wish. Most elderly patients wish to die at their homes closer to their loved ones. Unfortunately, most of these patients die away from their family, friends, and community. Unreliable social support system is faulted for an increase of elderly patients dying in palliative care, or hospice programs (Sheikh et al., 2022). Regrettably, family members get preoccupied with their activities to the extent of ignoring geriatric patients. Those elderly patients who die at home suffer from social isolation and effects of loneliness. Within hospitals and many programs, nurses are able to provide the patient and family proper end-of-life care (Ke et al., 2020). At the same time, these nurses act as alternative social support system for most elderly patients. Families of most elderly patients assume that admitting their loved ones in hospice program creates room for regular medical attention. Nurses are expected to go beyond provision of professional assistance to ensure that geriatric patients do not feel abandoned in their critical conditions.
