Overall Feedback

09/21/2021

Hi Brent,

Thanks for resubmitting.  I appreciate the effort you’ve put into this draft; however, you have not addressed the issues highlighted in your previous review for rubric items #4 and #5, where you are asked to comment on the timeliness/delivery/audience for each message and to propose a change to at least one message to reflect greater intercultural communication principles.

The following statements, which you repeat throughout your assessments either are not clear and/or do not address the requirements for rubric #4:

Information fits the targeted audience

Members of the public need information to be shared rapidly

The information might have more effects

To correctly respond to these points you need to explain whether each message was delivered in a timely manner, whether it reached its intended audience and whether it was appropriate for that audience–and you must explain the reasons for your answers.

To meet requirements for rubric #5, you must analyze at least one message and then suggest how the wording of that message could be improved to reflect greater intercultural sensitivity–that is, to communicate its message more effectively to its audience.

Please go back and review your feedback dated 09/17/21 for detailed instructions and resources for addressing these remaining requirements.

If you have questions, or need further clarification, please reach out using the Private Discussion.

Keep going–you can do this!

9/17/2021 Please review these portions of the six templates. There are places where your meaning is not clear to me. For example, in many places, you have noted that the communication was “effective.” However, in the column where you offer your analysis, you appear to judge the communication as “ineffective” with comments like: “We are dealing with information that might have more effects” If an element is effective, the comment should state something positive. 09/02/2021: You are offering more general comments about the value or importance of timeliness, dissemination, and audience, than you are addressing the extent to which each of the six messages was effective or not with regard to those points. Please comment specifically about whether each message was timely, disseminated well, and whether it reach its intended audience. Was the meme or the headline, etc., effective or ineffective with regard to timeliness, dissemination, and reaching the intended audience? When considering audiences, what steps can you take to ensure that you properly assess the importance of the delivery method? 9/17/2021 For this section, please identify one message- as you have done. Then explain how you would revise or change the message to improve it. So what you need to propose here are changes in the wording of the message that you would change. Please provide the new wording or other proposed change 09/02/2021: This is a good effort but what you seem to be suggesting here are changes that key nations involved in this crisis could make to improve condition, which is not what this is asking to do. For this requirement you need to choose 1-3 of the six messages and propose a change in the message itself to reflect more effective intercultural communication. So what you need to propose here are changes in the wording of the message. Try highlighting the portion of the original message that you would change, then provide the new wording or other proposed change you are suggesting for each of the main categories (social equality, environment, and political issues). Draw on your knowledge (and reading/research) of intercultural communication techniques, to suggest a change that brings the message in line with that element of global citizenship.
