Patient Synopsis- Exam: Part 2
(14 points, .5 point per cell)
Deconstruct each of the seven red, bolded terms below by breaking them down into their component parts and then provide a definition.
The patient is a 66 year old male who has an oozing lesion on his left earlobe. The area appeared to be healing but then reopened with renewed exudation which occasioned him to seek medical care. He reports a history of working in road construction for many years, with minimal attempts to protect himself from exposure to the sun. The patient was referred to an oncologist
by his family physician. Following examination, a sample of tissue from the lesion was obtained for biopsy. The report came back with a diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma. The patient will undergo excision of the lesion. The prognosis after treatment is pending the pathology report following the surgery.
