I have decided to complete the BSN program, to help further my career in nursing. Getting my BSN is a stepping stone to getting my MSN in leadership and management. It was a very tough decision to make as i have recently gotten married and have 4 kids ranging from the ages of 2-11 and work full time. My biggest concern is the writing part of the classes, that has always been a weakness of mine

I initially started working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for two years, then went to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and now a proud Registered Nurse to be working on a step-down ICU. I am working towards obtaining my BSN because it is a requirement at my job, and I want to keep it.
Also, I intend to further my education after achieving my BSN but haven’t decided on what exactly to pursue. My concerns for obtaining my baccalaureate degree are how to combine school with taking care of my kids whiles I am still expecting another baby.
The fact that I am expecting another baby makes me feel like waiting till after delivery but at the same time, I do not want to procrastinate. Strategies I can execute to be successful are time management, studying smart, asking for help, staying focus, setting realistic goals, being proactive and rewarding myself.
For me to be successful, I need to manage my time properly to be able to meet due dates for assignments; proper time management will help me not to work under pressure and being stressed. I decided to start on my Bachelor of Science in Nursing now because I am in the process of obtaining my Associates Degree in Nursing; when I graduate, I will be halfway done with my BSN. I have always known I wanted my BSN; I enjoy learning about the field I am passionate about. Plus, many hospitals and places of work in my area require a nurse to complete their BSN as well. My program so far has been tough but manageable.
I have saved for years and now have the opportunity of only working part time and having more time to focus on school. My biggest concern is managing the workload with my other classes and making sure to stay on top of all due dates. I have decided to complete my BSN program to help me get a better job and a higher pay, my degree is a also a stepping stone to any advance degree, I’m planning to further my studies in psychiatric nurse practitioner, and for me to get there I need my bachelor’s degree, also the hospital that I work is a magnet hospital and one of the requirement is nurses working there should have a bachelor’s degree in nursing, the main concerns about completing my degree is balancing between job, school and family, when I graduated for my ADN, I was married but I did not have kids, so there was plenty of time for me to study and take care of myself and plus I used to work part time, but right now, I have a family to support, I work full time, and online classes.

was a dream which was not fulfilled since long due to financial constraints and family priorities. But now after recently moving to this country, I have found a suitable time to further purse my nursing studies. There was a time when experience was a good replacement for a BSN, but those days are gone. Moreover, a BSN degree will open better job prospects, opportunities as a nurse and job satisfaction.

When we get overwhelmed, one aspect in our lives can suffer. To avoid this, we need to remember to ask for help. Caitlin Vogt states in The Importance of Asking for Help (2021), “Be specific, and make a list if you think that will organize your thoughts.

You are helping them help you!” I agree with her statements. I tend to ask for help; however, I do not think that I am specific enough which can cause confusion.
