As I mentioned in my answer post, there is a sense of reward in being able to evade consequences of failed integrity. The student that violates the Academic Integrity policy at Chamberlain, or anywhere, believes they are entitled to evade the standard path of integrity to achieve one’s goals. As is stated in most of the other posts, the student may be trying to manage their time by taking this shortcut, but the journal article I used by Melesky, et al stated that mostly it is a personality trait and also has to do with peer influence(2020). The idea of being able to take that kind of shortcut, and not suffer the consequences is partially rewarding to the person that just has the final goal in mind. There is never an acceptable reason to cheat or plagiarize because by doing so, a person that has completed assignments traditionally, but doing research, organizing and summarizing their infomation, and submitting the information as instructed by the professor will have the credit stripped from them. Taking credit for someone else’s work demonstrates a lack of integrity. Integrity, according to Chamberlain University, is one of nursing’s core values (2023). Individuals that feel that they do not have to uphold all of the core values of nursing, are individuals that need to be scrutinized for tainting the nursing practice, as nurses are one of the most trusted professionals, when dealing with people’s valuables ( Chamberlain University, 2023).

Integrity is a defining characteristic of being a professional nurse. This year nurses ranked number one as the most honest and trusted professionals in the United States.  For the last nineteen years the profession of nursing has been ranked highly as “the most trusted profession”. One of the many reasons that nurses are trusted is because of their integrity. According to our Week 2 Module, the factors that impact integrity are autonomy, accountability, and delegation. In order to maintain integrity as professional nurses, we need to start the process as students.
Even though the consequences for breaking academic integrity are known to students, it is still a very prevalent problem in today’s day in time. I believe that a factor that makes it easier for students to breach the policies set in place to maintain integrity is the availability of the internet. It is so easy in today’s day in age to “copy and paste” without even giving it a second thought. According to the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, “The millennial generation is viewed as valuing efficiency and instant rewards. They are reported to be more concerned about outcome than process. They have different views on what constitutes cheating than previous generations. Perhaps, we have taught them too well to work in groups and collaborate, and they may not know when to stop doing group work and start doing individual work. The Center for Academic Integrity found that 22% of students say they have cheated on a test or examination, but about twice as many (43%) have engaged in “unauthorized collaboration on homework (Brazeau, 2010)”. 22% is an astonishing statistic! And that is only the people who admitted to cheating. The instant gratification makes it ever so easy for students to falsify any work and claim it as their own.
I have not used APA format as much as other formats but I do not particularly find a part more challenging than another. I do plan to reference the Publication manual of the American Psychological Association (APA Manual) for any help I may need while in school to overcome any challenges in the process.

I agree that one of the most important assets an RN could have is integrity.   I also agree that students may falsify their work because they are overwhelmed with the work load.  I feel that the Time Management Tool in our lesson is a good start to helping the success of a student that feels overwhelmed.  Looking at how one could rearrange some of the activities they are responsible for, so that all the activities can have some time dedicated to them is a sure fire way to planning a way of success that will not require illegal and unethical shortcuts (Chamberlain University, 2023).  I also posted that some people’s personalities and peer influence could cause a person to be unethical, and falsify their work, as is stated in the article by Malesky, et al (2020).  If people don’t get caught cheating, they feel that it is okay to do so, and to continue with their course work in the same manner.  Ethics and integrity would need to be characteristics and values that are important to a person in order for this mentality and behavior to not be accepted and participated in.  I feel that time management has been an asset in my course attendance here at Chamberlain, though I am still fine tuning my details, I have been feeling less overwhelmed.  Though I would not falsify my work, I totally understand wanting to take shortcuts to complete tasks in order to seem successful.  I hate to fail, but at least the attempt was my genuine attempt. 
APA formatting is a challenge for me because I have never been able to memorize any of the citing details.  I usually have to sit with the manual right next to me to reference how to cite everything.  I always have a question that is difficult to find the answer to in the manual because, of course, nothing is easily accessible.  I always have to comb through the manual to find my answer, and this makes me feel pressure.  Once again, I feel less overwhelmed with having used the Time Management Tool in our lesson (Chamberlain University, 2023).  I have implement little pockets of time to piece together my assignments.
