At Walden University where there are significant numbers of nurses from different backgrounds, consideration of learning support is necessary to ensure effective progression and success. As a nurse student, professional networking leads to the exploration of the entire field of nursing as well as the development of a strong support system within the medical community (Birks et al., 2018). Professional networking allows nursing students to gain new knowledge and experiences, share ideas, and discover new specialties (MacIntyre et al., 2019).
Sharing knowledge is an essential part of the learning process. At Walden University, there are numerous resources that can be utilized by the learners to ensure effective learning outcomes. These resources may include academic professionals, fellow learners, healthcare professionals, and the educators.  The purpose of this section is therefore to explore the above academic and professional resources and their role in my academic journey.

Notes: As a program director, Dr. Shelley Armstrong has the responsibilities in course development, academic program reviews, policy and curriculum reviews, as well as the development of students into health science professionals. Dr. Shelley Armstrong has been in the institution for over ten years and she has taught many courses and engaged with different students and other educators. As a result, she is able to provide the right direction in the learning process.

Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse:
Notes: Elizabeth McDonald has a Master’s degree in Community Counselling. She also has a BA in Sociology. Through continuous education, Elizabeth McDonald obtained a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. She has experience in the counselling programs both for the students and professionals. She has worked in the county jail, juvenile settings, University Counselling, community agencies, and psychological settings. While working in these institutions, she managed to gain experience in dealing with adolescents, children and adults.
Given that nursing programs are characterized by different problems including long times of studies and research processes, there is always a high possibility of developing psychological glitches. I therefore chose Dr. Elizabeth McDonald to help in the counseling processes. I believe she will be able to assist whenever I have emotional problems. The counseling process is essential for learners as it provides solution to both the academic and personal problems.
Guidance and counselling is critical in the current education system. In the nursing education, it helps both educators and learners to become more professionals so that they can counter challenges. Dr. Elizabeth McDonald will therefore become a useful member of my network in terms of providing guiding and counselling services.

Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse:
Notes: Sandrine Happi, CRNP is a registered nurse practitioner working for the Adventist Medical Group. Given her experience in dealing with different patients and healthcare issues, she will be able to provide a gateway to the real world experience in the medical profession. While undertaking nursing studies, it is necessary to have some professional experience. In other words, there is always the need to relate theory that is being taught in class with the real world experiences in the nursing practice.
During my nursing studies, Sandrine Happi will be able to provide a link of getting to know the emergent nursing practices that every future nurse have to adhere to. Also, while undertaking nursing research processes, it is always necessary to have someone to provide support (Broadbent et al., 2016). Given that most of the research processes are undertaken outside the educational institution, it is always necessary to have an individual or a professional who can give the necessary support required.
I chose Sandrine Happi because of her professional experience in the nursing practices. Her nursing philosophy also relates to that what I will be trying to achieve as a nursing student at Walden University. Her philosophy is to provide holistic and empathetic care to different patients and to ensure that they are mentally, physically, and spirituality fit. Sandrine Happi is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Association. Her knowledge and experience in the nursing profession will be useful in my nursing program.

Notes: Akosua D. Nuamah, CRNP, MSN is a professional nurse working for the Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. She is also an Alumni of Walden University. Having been a professional nurse for over ten years, she has worked with many nursing students, giving them direction and introducing them to the professional nursing practice. I chose her to be part of my network because of her ability to work with students from different universities. She will be able to provide professional experience in nursing. She will also be able to prepare me on different emerging practices in the healthcare profession.
Akosua’s nursing philosophy coincides with what I want to achieve as a professional nurse and as a student. Her main objective or philosophy is to provide quality evidence-based care and effective interventions for different diseases and infections. She is also a strong advocate for disease prevention and health promotion. With her philosophy, I will be able to get enough support required to fully adhere to my nursing philosophies.

Unless you are a student of seventeenth-century poetry, you may not be all that familiar with this piece. However, you may be much more familiar with one of its well-known phrases: “No man is an island…”.
As you begin your journey toward achieving your academic and professional goals, you have a great opportunity to network with academics and professionals who can help ensure you do not travel alone. This network can help to clarify your own vision for success and can help guide you now and in the future. To paraphrase Donne, no one is an island.

I selected Dr. Williams because she is currently the Program Coordinator of the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program at Walden University. She has more than 20 years of experience practicing nursing and advanced practice nursing and over 10 years of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Walden University, 2020). Dr. Williams is known for her sincere passion for teaching and mentoring. Thus, she will be an ideal mentor since I am in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program.
Notes:
It will be essential to approach Dr. Williams and express my interest in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nursing. I will also request her to guide me throughout the program to gain the knowledge and attitude needed for a Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP.

I selected Pogemiller because she is an Adult Health Nursing NP, which aligns with my future role. Pogemiller has a vast experience as an NP of over 10 years and is highly skilled in providing Adult Health Nursing. Besides, she is committed to providing high-quality care based on the best practice and clinical guidelines to achieve the best outcomes for patients. She can thus support me throughout the NP program and guide me in becoming a highly-skilled NP in the future.
Notes: I will approach Pogemiller and inform her of my current NP course in Adult Gerontology Primary Care. I will request her to be my professional mentor and guide me in steering through the course including the do’s and don’t’s of a Adult Gerontology NP.

My name is Steven Lopez, and I am starting the Psychiatric MSN program here at Walden. I have been a RN for almost 8 years now and, although it has been challenging, I have very much enjoyed the ride. Before becoming a Nurse, I was active duty with the Marine Corps Infantry and later went part time military where I continue to serve today.
My experiences in Iraq and other places in the military more than prepared me for the intense and high paced nature of the Nursing field. I am grateful that I have been able to serve both my country and now my community most of my adult life and I find this very fulfilling. I am very excited to start this program and feel ready for the challenge.  
I have spent most of my Nursing career in the behavioral health field. Walden’s social change initiatives very much support my goals and intentions in this field of nursing. Behavioral health reaches everyone regardless of income, race, sex, gender religion or any other category. It is the great equalizer, and it does not discriminate on how it impacts people. Sadly, something that I have seen in the healthcare field is the shunning of patients who experience these mental health illnesses. I would love to see great advancements in the field of behavioral health and especially for those who cannot afford the higher and more comfortable levels of care.
Unfortunately, if a patient cannot afford the massive out of pocket expenses for the more extravagant health care facilities they are stuck with the local, community-based facilities which range from borderline untherapeutic to just plane uncomfortable to stay in for inpatient care. Walden’s social change initiatives would help expand higher quality services and funding to these community and state level facilities allowing for a more therapeutic environment to heal, change and grow for all patients regardless of their income earning abilities. 
In line with Walden’s Nursing programs Mission and Vision statement I very much am motivated and driven to impalement change in not only the field of nursing but in the medical world in general. Perhaps I am a bit idealistic but if people lose that drive to make a difference, then we lose forward progress and stay with the same problems with are faced with today. One of the things I would love to be an “agent of change” for is behavioral health directly related to the military. My experiences leaving the military were bleak.
No counseling services, no adjustment period no check on my actual mental health especially after my deployments to Iraq. I was taught how to fill out a check brook, how to apply for unemployment and sent on me to live in society again as if nothing ever happened. Fortunately, I was luck and was able to adjust back to normal life after Active duty but for many of my friends, and many more still today this adjustment phase ended in tragedy.
I am driven to change this exit process and perhaps help influence the change with the military so service member and civilian employees of the military get the guidance and care needed when leaving the service so they may successfully and safely be reintegrated back into every day civilian life. I feel the MSN Learning outcomes very much will help achieve my goals I have just mentioned and more and that as a Nurse Practitioner, this level of nursing and healthcare will allow me the influence to at least start the change needed for my very large goals here. 
In regard to Networking, one can never make enough professional connections. Having a good professional network gives people a leg up when looking for employment, funding for a project or even access to a pool of knowledge and experience other shave that can benefit out over all goals in healthcare. Networking also promotes that “interdisciplinary” approach to healthcare. Are we not networking when we make professional relationships with providers and therapists? It makes patient care so much easier when their connections have been established and allows much a smoother transfer of patient care and coordination. This same logic applies at the macro level of life. The healthier professional connections with make with others improves our own outcomes when it comes to achieving our goals.
I have been in the medical field for 21 years  and have worked in many different platforms in this field ranging from outpatient clinic setting to med surg and emergency department, which has been where I spent most of my career.  I have accomplished many things in my nursing career and now I am on my journey to assist those in the community that cannot afford to care for themselves or their loved ones.  I was introduced to Walden by two alumni who both spoke very highly of the school. Walden’s vision is something I took to heart when researching the school, I wanted to attend to advance my career goals.  To be at a school that desires for its graduates to have an “immediate solution of outcome to societal changes and advancing to greater global good” (Walden,  para 1,2021) is exactly why I chose Walden.
I am on my journey practitioner in acute care so that I can assist with care across the entire life span.  I want to be able to educate and help people make better life decisions that benefit them and their families.  In alignment with the vision and social change, I want Walden to develop me into a scholar practitioner, so that I may utilize all of this training and knowledge to make an impact in this world.  I know that Walden will also develop me to utilize evidence based practices, to be creative in my research and help me to be focus driven on researching and achieving new ways of caring for my future patients.
When joining college, nursing students are usually gray in many areas, and professional knowledge develops as they learn concepts in their respective fields and network with peers. For nurses to complete their programs successfully, academic and professional support is essential. This support is enhanced by collaborating inter-professionally. Interprofessional collaboration is vital in nursing since it provides nurses with platforms for social and professional interaction as they work in teams (Moss et al., 2016). It is a way to share knowledge and resources. Networking opens a broader sphere of influence. According to Goolsby and Knestrick (2017), professional networking is an element that enables nurses to communicate with others with shared interests and expertise. It creates relationships that support new opportunities. Khanum et al. (2016) further mentioned that interdisciplinary networking provides nurses with contacts for personal development and establishing contacts that make them better patient care providers. This section of my plan describes the academic and professional resources that I believe will be instrumental in my nursing program.
