A pain management strategy is essential for everyone who is experiencing pain. As humans, we may experience pain; however, not everyone experiences pain in the same way, yet, healthcare professionals may assist individuals in managing all types of pain through a pain management strategy.
Pain management by a health care professional includes providing medicines or therapies; sometimes, a pain management plan may be unsuccessful, but the health care professionals, including nurses, play an essential role in providing the best pain management practices.
I had an emergency c-section with my third kid four weeks ago. I was in severe pain, but the healthcare staff successfully controlled my pain using NSAIDs, opioids, and therapies. For nearly nine years as a certified medication aid in various healthcare facilities, I have heard my clients complain about the pain daily.
Most people in long-term facilities have some chronic pain, which I managed with pain medications prescribed by their health care provider and non-pharmacological pain management such as providing ace bag or heat back.

Individuals, as well as societies, bear a significant financial burden as a result of chronic pain. Chronic pain is the leading cause of disability across the globe; it is also connected to the opioid crisis and is associated with several mental health complications. Several organizations advocate for the human right to pain treatment.
Due to a lack of available medical resources, doctors who must end the COVID-19 outbreak and treat their patients are in a difficult position. Pain treatment professionals from the military, the VA, and academic institutions have come together to address these concerns. After a week, the stakeholder societies were allowed to support the paper.
These principles provide practitioners of pain management and institutions with a framework for reconciling the frequently competing goals of reducing the risk of injury to healthcare professionals and reducing the risk of harm to patients.
Hsu, J. R., Mir, H., Wally, M. K., & Seymour, R. B. (2019). Clinical practice guidelines for pain management in acute musculoskeletal injury. Journal of orthopaedic trauma, 33(5), e158.
This paper developed comprehensive guidelines and suggestions for orthopedics and other disciplines to improve acute pain management after musculoskeletal injury.
These guidelines and suggestions are intended to improve pain management after musculoskeletal injury. After reviewing the available research, fifteen specialists in the fields of orthopedic trauma, pain management, or both gave recommendations for the acute therapy of musculoskeletal pain.
To assist orthopedics, this article presents evidence-based advice for best practices in the field as well as drug suggestions. It is recommended that patients seek treatment for their pain using cognitive, physical, long-term opioid, and system deployment options.
It is recommended to use multimodal analgesia, the least potent immediate-release opioid for the shortest amount of time possible, in conjunction with localized anesthesia.
After an acute musculoskeletal injury, achieving a balance between patient comfort and safety requires a genuinely multimodal approach that makes use of cognitive, physical, and pharmacological strategies.
This guideline offers medical professionals treating patients with acute pain from musculoskeletal injuries both surgical and non-operative recommendations that are evidence-based and practical in nature.
Buzzaccarini, G., Alonso Pacheco, L., Vitagliano, A., Haimovich, S., Chiantera, V., Török, P., … & Carugno, J. (2022). Pain Management during Office Hysteroscopy: An Evidence-Based Approach. Medicina, 58(8), 1132.
Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for diseases of the intrauterine cavity. Because more in-office operations are being performed without the use of anesthesia, there is a greater demand for effective pain-reduction strategies.
We went through the literature on hysteroscopic office-based pain management. This article looked for every original publication that had been published on the topic of office hysteroscopy pain reduction technique, regardless of when it was published.
The word “AGREE” was coined to summarize the findings and the recommendations. Each recommendation was given a grade based on the GRADE system so that we could present the most convincing evidence.
The findings show that both pharmaceutical and non-pharmacological approaches to pain relief are viable options for office-based hysteroscopic treatments. The choice of strategy ought to be influenced by the features of the patient and the challenges of the process.
However, additional research needs to be done to identify the method (or combination of methods) that is most effective given the characteristics of the patient and the challenges of the surgery.

The data for the machine learning (ML) models came from a cancer pain management program that was based on telemedicine and had only one facility. After the machine learning model was validated, risk assessments were performed on target individuals via several remote consultations.
Patients over the age of 75 who have bone metastases may require additional clinical examinations that are based on telemedicine.
ML-based studies may assist medical professionals in calibrating care interventions and resource allocation by locating the optimal model for forecasting the need for more distant consultations. Aromatherapy and psychosocial therapies are two options that we recommend for anxiety reduction.
Ice, elevation, and transcutaneous electrical stimulation are the last three treatments that we recommend. At the time of presentation, only one prescriber should treat long-term opioid users. Inpatient pain and sedation levels should be routinely measured using quick and reliable devices.
Learning from the research
Doing more research on this topic, I found peer-reviewed articles; I learned more about pain management, different kinds of pain, and how healthcare professionals sometimes fail to manage pain. By making animated bibliography, I was apple to understand the topic thoroughly, and as a new nurse, I gained more knowledge about best practices for pain management.

Assessment Topic: Medication Errors
Medication Errors
The promotion of patient safety is an area of considerable focus in nursing practice. Patient safety entails the provision of high quality care to the patient with the focus of eliminating any possible harm. Despite this focus, the issue of medication errors continues to affect the quality and safety of care that patients receive in health organizations.
Medication errors cause significant harm to patients, distress to healthcare providers, and high cost to healthcare organizations. Medication errors occur at different points of care that include dispensing, ordering, documenting, transcribing, administering, and monitoring. A number of factors contribute to medication errors.
The factors include distractions, distortions, illegible writing, burnout, and high workload. Nurses and other healthcare providers have a critical role in preventing and reducing the risks of medication errors. Nurses adopt interventions that increase their situational awareness to the risk factors for medication errors and advocate for safe practices in nursing.
Therefore, organizational structures should systems should support patient safety by minimizing the risk of medication errors and other related safety concerns.
As a future nurse professional, I am responsible for the ensuring that safe and quality care is provided to patients that I serve. I have the responsibility of minimizing the risks of medication errors in caring the populations that I will serve as a nurse.
I also have the responsibility to ensure the creation of workplace culture that promotes and protects patient safety. Patient safety culture is achievable through training healthcare providers and developing guidelines that support safety in care.
Therefore, I believe that I have the critical responsibility of addressing the factors that contribute to medication errors as a way of promoting safety and quality in healthcare.

Healthcare Disparities
The selected healthcare issue is Healthcare Disparities. Healthcare disparities are defined as differences in health and health care between groups that result from broader inequities. My interest in this topic is from my experience of how healthcare disparities contribute to poor health outcomes. Thus, they need to be addressed by negating their impacts or probably eliminating them. In my professional experience, I have seen how social determinants of health (SDOH) and health disparities hugely impact individuals’ health. The purpose of this assignment is to present an annotated bibliography of peer-reviewed articles discussing healthcare disparities.
Identifying Academic Peer-Reviewed Journal Articles
Peer-reviewed articles relating to the research topic were discovered using search engines like PubMed and MEDLINE, to source primary literature. I also sourced literature from evidence-based databases like The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and UpToDate. To refine the literature search, I used the terms from the topic to search in the Boolean operator of the databases. I keyed in terms like “Healthcare Disparities”, Impact of Healthcare Disparities” and “Types of Healthcare Disparities”.
Assessing Credibility and Relevance of Information Sources
The credibility and relevance of the articles were established using the CRAAP criterion (Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose). I limited the search to articles published within the last five years for currency. I ensured relevance by using specific key terms. Besides, I ensured the article were authoritative by ensuring the authors were experts in the selected topic. I also evaluated the information in the articles to ensure accuracy. Furthermore, I searched for articles that aimed to teach or inform readers about healthcare disparities.
