Identify a patient care situation and describe how nursing care, or approaches to decision-making, differ between the BSN-prepared nurse and the ADN nurse.
Discuss the significance of applying evidence-based practice to nursing care and explain how the academic preparation of the RN-BSN nurse supports its application.
Discuss how nurses today communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and how this supports safer and more effective patient outcomes.

Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) as defined in nursing, is when data is collected, processed, and applied to research to improve patient outcomes by nurses. This practice ensures that information is readily available where it could be clearly understood amongst all disciplines in healthcare. EBP is individualized to the patient’s specific needs and care. The use of EBP is highly encouraged within the health care setting. Nurses will take the safest, latest most highly recommended EBP, and what is in the best interest and specific needs of that patient. This is highly encouraged to help nurses with ensuring improved patient outcomes. Because of the demand that is being placed to hold health professionals accountable for patient safety and especially the improvement of an ever-changing healthcare system. (Stevens, 2013). EBP has shown that it could very well help nurses with their communication skills, take for example, whenever you have to clarify and/or present information to the patients, their families, and to other noted healthcare personnel. Critical thinking in nursing is defined as gathering an objective analysis and then evaluating it to improve patient outcomes. It can be looked at as investigation and learning. Critical thinking is simply problem-solving, which involves psychological physiological, and environmental ensuring traits like age level of confidence bias, fatigue, stress, and co-worker. (Journal, 2007) Nurses use this skill to solve patient problems, by taking a more creative approach to managing decisions in their patient’s best interest. This is all done and is essential to nurses because it allows them to plan ahead before making any decisions regarding their patient care. It is understood that EBP and Critical thinking go hand in hand. What I took from this is that critical thinking is an important aspect of Evidence-Based Practice. EBP, when used, places a huge positive impact on patient outcomes, nursing, and management.
