The performance of health organizations is dependent on their ability to achieve their set goals and objectives. Health organizations must measure their performance outcomes to determine the effectiveness of the adopted interventions. The hospital that I work with uses process and outcome measures to determine the quality of outcomes. The process measures determine the manner in which the allocated resources were used to achieve the set outcomes.
The focus is on the determination of whether the resources were used efficiently or not. Process measures also take into consideration the level of employee engagement. The organization considers the outcomes quality if all the organizational stakeholders were involved in the implementation of the developed strategies (Spath & Kelly, 2017). Outcome measures focus on whether the pre-developed goals and objectives of projects were met or not.

Data collection in the organization utilizes tools such as surveys, questionnaires, and opinions. The healthcare providers are administered with questionnaires that seek to obtain information related to their objective and subjective experiences in the organization. Surveys are also conducted to obtain information about the efficiency of the organization in achieving its objectives and ways of promoting excellence.
Opinions are also sought prior to implementation of change initiatives to determine the expected level of reception from the stakeholders. Variance investigation is done by comparing the obtained outcomes with the anticipated and previous outcomes.
Changes in protocols and services are implemented collectively. Healthcare providers and the management engage in the determination of the effectiveness of protocols in improving service delivery in the organization. Similarly, post-implementation is a collective effort that is done by all the healthcare providers to give an accurate picture of strategy effectiveness in addressing the needs of the organization. In all these steps, all the healthcare providers are involved to ensure minimal resistance to the adoption of change initiatives in the organization.
One example of continuous improvement project that was implemented in my workplace is the use of bedside alarms to prevent inpatient falls. Some of the things that worked well in the project included the undertaking of needs assessment, active involvement of the staffs in the project, and alignment of the project with the goals of the inpatient departments.
Some of the things that did not work well include the lack of coaching and mentorship services for the use of the system and motivation for the staffs to incorporate the practice into the culture of the organization. The process could have been improved through the provision of coaching and mentorship services, incorporating the use of the technology into organizational culture, and providing incentives to increase and sustain the use of the technology.
