Staff nurse stakeholders may have a lack of belief that EBP will result in more positive patient outcomes. Nurses who work in the ICU do not always see the long-term negative impacts of delirium, as they only treat the patient while they are acutely ill. Using the strategy of training nurses on the innovation before it is adopted could help to increase staff nurse stakeholder support (Mathieson et al., 2019). Part of the training could include stories from patients who have had negative long-term health complications due to the development of delirium in the ICU. This education could help staff nurses better understand the potential for improvement in patient outcomes through implementation of this EBP project. One piece of advice I would give to a colleague who is struggling with obtaining stakeholder support would be to find out what is important to each stakeholder and what their goals are for improving nursing practice and patient care. Once they have gathered this information, they can present their EBP project in a way that addresses each of the stakeholder’s priorities and goals. By showing each stakeholder that the EBP project complements the work they are already doing, the stakeholders will be more likely to support the project. We need to make sure they are involved 100% and for the right reason. I believe that the stakeholders will be people from various backgrounds, both clinical, educational, and lay people. One barrier could be that since they do not share the same background that they may not fully understand or support the project. This article establishes that there is a secular moral duty of neighborly love in one’s work by first examining whether there is a secular approach that sufficiently grounds a moral duty to love either one’s neighbors in general or one’s neighbors in the context of one’s work. (Kaptein, 2022) However, Kant does not reject the duty of neighborly love. He argues that there is a moral duty of practical love, which he defines in terms of benevolence or doing good to others.
