The phrase “signs of the times” based on the council is an important concept that was used by the Pope John in the Encyclical letter three times and it was used to convey the message to the council that they should understand the knowledge of religion and God in relation to the world’s history and progression. The phrase carries much meaning because the Pope used it the moment where there were increasing growing role of women in the public life and the gradual disappearance of colonialism in 1963 (Bent, 2019). I understood the phrase as it appears in the document in a manner that the Church needs to be close to the people and the world where they should listen and learn from it and get insights, that is reading the signs of the present times. I consider learning about the present events in the world by the church is an important intervention strategy that would help the council and the

Pope considers delivering a religious message that resonates with the issues that the people are experiencing. I believe that understanding the present issues that are pressing the people in the world today would contribute to sharing the message of hope and prosperity to the people and use what would work best to deliver the message like the current use of technology (Bent, 2019). The “signs of times” today is more about using technology like the social media in reaching the young people. The Catholic Church should consider investing in technology like during the COVID-19 by reaching out to the people due to limited interactions by leveraging the social media in sharing sermons. I think the council is saying that the church should build a good relationship with the world in order to offer the necessary positive influence and change.
